My Goals for 2008…
Jan 05 2008Since this site was developed with a goal in mind I think it’s important for me to take some time and outline the goals I have for 2008.
I will start with the most obvious goal which is to lose 80 pounds in 12 months.
- What will it take to accomplish this goal? I need to lose, on average, 1.5 pounds a week.
- Is this goal realistic? It won’t be easy, but I think it’s very realistic. Others have lost a lot more weight in the same amount of time.
My second goal for 2008 is to develop my healthy hobbies. I love to ride my mountain bike and to kayak. At my current weight biking might be tough, but kayaking is definitely still an option.
- What will it take to accomplish this goal? In reality I just need to get out and do it, but it would be nice to find some like minded individuals to keep me going.
- Is this goal realistic? Completely. I can easily kayak as soon as it warms up a bit. In the fall I will be fit enough to get out and ride some easy trails.
My ultimate kayaking goal is to eventually get in to sea kayaking. I need to lose some weight, get a sea kayak, and develop the skills needed to paddle off shore, but it’s never too late to get started.
A third goal I have is to finish a website I have been working on called grubfi.com. Once my workout schedule is solidified I plan to create a daily routine for myself that includes some time for working on the site.
My fourth goal is to read a book a month about diet and/or fitness. Knowledge is power and the statistics say even if I lose the weight the likelihood I will gain it all back is very high. So this is not just a diet but a true lifestyle change and it should be pretty obvious that I have a lot to learn.
My career goal for the year is to push myself and develop in to a great Sales Engineer. I am training to transition in to the role of Sales Engineer at Jaduka. I believe developing a lifestyle of fitness will help me with this goal. I will have more energy and feel more confident about myself.
My goal for this blog is for me to post at least once a day and produce a “Week in Review” podcast. I can’t promise either will be all that good, but I am hoping to improve my skills as the year goes along.
